Mastodon
Posts to any Mastodon instance.
Fields
| Field | Required | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Instance URL | yes | The full URL of your instance, e.g. https://mastodon.social |
| Access token | yes | A token scoped to posting. Write-only — saved, never shown again. |
Connect it
- On your instance, go to Settings → Development → New application.
- Give it the
write:statusesscope. That's all it needs — a token that can only post is a token that can only do the thing you asked for. - Copy the access token.
- In Podcode, open Settings → Integrations → Mastodon, enter your instance URL, paste the token, save, then Verify.
The instance URL matters: Mastodon is federated, and the token is only valid on the instance that issued it. If verification fails, that mismatch is the first thing to check.
What it unlocks
- The
postaction, which publishes a status and returns its URL. - The
socialagent — see Bluesky for what it does. It works with either integration, or both.
The post limit used is 500 characters, checked before an API call is spent. Instances can configure their own limit; if yours allows more, the shorter of the two applies here.
Re-editing
Reopening the form shows your instance URL but a blank token field. Saving without filling it in keeps the existing token. Enter a new one only to replace it, and revoke the old application on your instance afterwards.
